Consignment Policies all Clients
- No appointment is necessary to drop off items.
- All consigned items must be cleaned, pressed, smoke-free, free of defects and on hangers. Items in need of cleaning will be charged a minimum $7.50 per piece from consignment payment.
- All clothing must be in current season and style, no more than two years old from the date of purchase (excluding furs, jewelry, select designer and vintage items).
- Free pick-up on large consignments in the Austin, TX area.
- Consignment goods are subject to seasonal and promotional sales at all times.
- Pack and ship your items using any of the following methods: USPS, FedEx Ground, UPS Ground. Designer Exchange highly recommends insuring your package(s) in case of damage or loss. Designer Exchange is not responsible for any damages incurred during the shipping process.
- As the consignor, you will be responsible for the shipping costs associated with your items. In the event that we can not accept your items or that your items do not sell, you will also be responsible for all return shipping, handling and packaging costs. You may choose to have us donate these items in lieu of return shipping.
We accept the following items for consigment:
- Clothing with designer and couture labels such as: Christian Dior, Vera Wang, Giorgio Armani, St. John, Chanel, Escada, Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino
- Handbags and accessories with labels like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Ferragamo, Gucci, Stuart Weitzman, Coach, Bottega Veneta and Judith Leiber
- Current modern designers such as: Betsey Johnson, Nicole Miller, Laundry, Marc Jacobs, Yoana Baraschi and Zac Posen
- Designer Jeans such as: True Religion, Paper Denim & Cloth, Seven for all Mankind and Citizens of Humanity
- Fun contemporary and resort clothing
- Bridal gowns such as: Reem Acra, Vera Wang
- Veils, crinolines and accessories
- Mother of the Bride gowns
- Special occasion gowns - prom, pageant, cocktail and evening gowns
- Furs that have been stored, cleaned and glazed
- Shoes, belts and scarves that are new or previously owned with little to no wear
- Vintage designer clothing & accessories upon approval
- Fine Jewelry & Vintage Costume Jewerly

Although no appointment is necessary, we may not always be able to inspect clothing while you wait. A minimum of six items is required to open an account. No limit. Declined items or unsold items may be returned to the consignor or sent to charity. You must notify us seven (7) business days prior to expiration date to reclaim unsold items and they must be picked up no later ten (10) business after the expiration date of your contract.
You will receive an itemized list of all items you consign including consigned price. The consigned price is set by Designer Exchange and is based on condition, age and original retail price of the garment. Consignors will receive 40% of the selling price. Bridal gowns and furs will receive 50% of the selling price. The term of the Consignment Agreement is for 90 days. Items may be discounted after 30 days. Checks can be picked up at the store between the 15th and 20th of each month. No checks will be issued during the consignment period for amounts less than $20, twenty dollars. Only out of town checks will be mailed, there is a $2 handling fee.
